immersed

i just got to new york and i am staying at kim's. her apartment is like an architectural manifestation of her. it's stylish and serene and beautiful. all the art on the walls and the little touches everywhere remind me of her and make me miss her, because she's in LA and i am here.

when i went upstairs to the sleeping loft, there was a painting on the wall by my friend kime. i've been thinking about her a lot because she has a tumor and needs a big expensive operation and she doesn't have insurance so she needs some help. she's having a benefit soon and when i have details i am going to help promote it so everyone kicks down what they can. health care is so fucked up, but you knew that. anyway, the painting is like a little connection to home, and i like that. it's nice to be away though, too. i am here for a yoga "immersion" with my friend and teacher tara judelle, which is like the first step in becoming a yoga teacher. i am not sure if i want to do that, but i know i want to do this.

big sur? yessir

yurts so good: this week ed, my visiting friend from london, and i took a road trip up the coast to big sur, stopping at the treebones resort just north of gorda.

post-hot-tub at the lodge, enjoying the sunset with ed.
the view from our yurt at night. spooky and romantic. of course, we were inside dancing to my ipod playlist and imagining scenarios from the horror movie we were cooking up set at the yurts. (picture ed dancing on the bed to "hit me with your best shot", oblivious, while i am getting hacked up by a crazed killer )ed at the henry miller library. he scoped out cute guys while i re-lived fond memories that took place here awhile back at leslie and pat's wedding reception.
